  • Dr Gillian Brown

    Clinical Director and Advanced Practitioner

    BVSc PgCertVPS Cert AVP MRCVS

    I qualified from the University of Bristol in 1996 as a Veterinary Surgeon. After completing an internship at the University I spent some time working and travelling in New Zealand and Australia before coming back to work at Prince Bishop Veterinary Hospital in January 1999. When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my family, baking and walks in the country.

     

  • Dr Gemma Taylor

    Veterinary Surgeon

    I graduated in 2009 from Bristol University. I spent six months in practice in the South West before joining Prince Bishop Veterinary Hospital in March 2010. I am keen on all aspects of animal practice but I'm particularly enjoying increasing my surgical experience with the endoscopy and keyhole surgery equipment. In my spare time I enjoy looking after my little boys Daniel and Rowan and spending time as a family, keeping up with friends, going to the cinema and nice walks in the country.

  • Dr Emma Hindson

    I originally grew up in the North East and in 2014 after spending 5 years studying at the University of Nottingham I returned to the region and started working at Prince Bishops. I really enjoy my job and I have a particular interest in animal behaviour. I am studying for a further qualification in behavioural medicine which will allow me to help clients with any concerns they may have.

    Outside of work I enjoy spending lots of time out exploring the countryside with my dogs; 8 year old Staffy Cross Zara and her partner in crime the German Wirehaired Pointer Wilf. We also like to do a bit of agility, scent work and fun tricks to try and keep them out of trouble. I have two elderly horses, Tigger a Clydesdale/TB who takes great pride in acting like a 4yr old whilst out hacking and his little companion Mickey who is very handy with his back feet!

  • Dr Natasha Lim

    Veterinary Surgeon

    I am originally from Singapore but have been living in the UK for the past 7 years. I graduated from the Royal (dick) School of Veterinary Studies at Edinburgh University in July 2017 and started working here in September. I am really enjoying the various aspects of being a vet. I am looking forward to gaining more knowledge and developing a keen interest in a particular discipline. Outside of work, I spend my weekends playing a sport called Ultimate Frisbee. I also enjoy cooking, baking and food photography.

    I am originally from Malaysia but I have been living in the UK for more than 5 years now. I graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2021 and joined Prince Bishop Veterinary Hospital in August of that year. In my free time, I enjoy drawing and watching films.

  • Cheryl Marriott

    I started working at PBVH at the age of 16 as a nursing assistant. I have since gained a lot of experience as a senior nurse getting a diploma in Veterinary Nursing in 2012 and a further certificate in Emergency and Critical Care in 2016. I completed clinical coach training in 2016 which means that I am a mentor to student nurses assisting and providing support during their training.

    In January 2017 I was promoted to Clinical Head Nurse which means that I am now in a managerial position overseeing and supporting the nursing team to ensure that the high standards of care are maintained day to day for our patients and clients.  The new job certainly has its challenges but I have embraced these and am enjoying the role.

    I first came to Prince Bishop Veterinary Hospital as a work experience student back in 2018, whilst studying for my A levels. After a week in the practice I knew this was the career I wanted - and I never left! I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to carry out my nurse training here and in 2021 I passed all my exams and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I am truly loving every aspect of my job, especially consultations as I get to see all your lovely pets! I am looking forward to furthering my knowledge in different fields and I am hoping to do some extra qualifications as I gain more experience. In my spare time I love playing netball, socialising with my friends and spending quality time with my family (and my cheeky cat Rio).

    I am originally from Southampton but qualified at Hartpury University, Gloucestershire, in 2015. I really enjoy anaesthesia and in-patient care and find it rewarding making a patient's time at the practice as stress free as possible. I recently relocated to beautiful Northumberland and started working at Prince Bishop Veterinary Hospital in January 2022 as a registered nurse and was promoted to Senior Nurse in January 2023. I found it very easy to settle in at the practice with a supportive and friendly team. I have a rescue cat called Sybil and six chickens called Jemima, Cocotte, Babs, Tallulah, Gretel and Georgie. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, baking, walking and learning to play the violin. I look forward to meeting all of your lovely pets soon!

    Student Veterinary Nurse

    I started my training as a student veterinary nurse at Prince Bishop Veterinary Hospital in September 2020, while studying at Houghall College having previously completed the Veterinary Care Assistant course at Houghall. I am loving all aspects of the role and I am really enjoying progressing and learning new skills every day. I specifically enjoy learning about different surgeries and conditions affecting animals that come into practice. In my spare time I love catching up with friends and family, watching movies and taking my Staffy cross Mabel for long walks down the beach.

    I have worked at the practice since May 2019 and love being part of such a friendly close-working team. I have a cat called Lola and a dog called Spencer and have shared my home with animals since being born! I enjoy developing my knowledge for work through CPD and in my spare time I love being outdoors in the fresh air, keeping active and reading.

    I am currently a student veterinary nurse completing my training here at Prince Bishop Vets. I started working here in 2021 as a veterinary care assistant student. Completing this course made me want to further my qualification and train to be a veterinary nurse. My favourite part of the job is being able to care for the patients that come into the practice. I am constantly learning new things every day and developing my knowledge in all areas. In my spare time I love to socialise with family and friends and take my two cocker spaniels Jax and Teller for walks along the beach.

    I started my training as a student veterinary nurse at Prince Bishop Veterinary Hospital in May 2022, while studying at Houghall College having previously completed the Veterinary Care Assistant course. I love taking care of our patients and all aspect of my role as it has always been my passion to work in the animal care industry. My days are never the same and I enjoy learning and progressing every day to become a better nurse. I am interested in emergency and critical care which I hope to progress further in this area. In my spare time I love travelling, horse riding and hiking with my rescue dog Lamia (which you can see on the picture) especially the Lake District.

    I began my journey at Prince Bishops in April 2022. I am loving all aspects of the role and I am really enjoying progressing and learning new skills every day. I particularly enjoy working closely with all our patients taking care of their everyday needs when they visit the practice. In my spare time I enjoy dog shows and exploring the country side with my three dogs.

    I started working at Prince Bishop Veterinary Hospital as a receptionist almost 3 years ago and was given the opportunity to become a nursing assistant in 2017. I am really enjoying my new role and working more closely with the animals that come to the practice and love taking care of their day to day needs when they are with us. I have four cats and two turtles at home and in my spare time I enjoy walking, nature photography, cycling and bird watching.

    I started working at Prince Bishops in April 2016 as a receptionist. In January 2017 I was promoted to Reception and Office Team Leader and in September 2019 to Practice Manager. I am really enjoying my role and the challenges it brings and I am learning so many new skills. I have worked in the Veterinary industry since 2001 and achieved qualifications in animal care and veterinary nursing. I am also a registered SQP, which is an Animal Medicines Advisor. I have 2 Guinea Pigs at home. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my daughter, family and friends.

  • Sandra Barrass

    Accounts Manager

    I have been at Prince Bishops since 1992 and I love being part of the team here. I have had various roles over the years in both veterinary nursing and on the reception team and have gained qualifications in both of these areas. I am now the accounts manager for the hospital, and also deal with all of the insurance claims. I love having this one to one contact with our clients and am very committed to providing our clients with an excellent service. I have two Chihuahuas at home and love to be with my family in my spare time.

    After working in many sectors including Banking, Accountancy and IT, I started to pursue my dream of working with animals in 2016 when I enrolled as a very mature student at Houghall College in Durham to study Animal Management. During my two years there, I volunteered at an animal rescue centre near Barnard Castle, which then led to a permanent job as an animal carer at another rescue centre in Weardale. In 2019, I decided to combine my passion for animals with my customer service skills to become a Veterinary Receptionist, and after a couple of years at a practice in Newcastle, I was lucky enough to join the amazing team at Prince Bishops in the summer of 2021. In my spare time, I love caravanning with my partner and our two elderly Border Collies, Dinkie & Donut. I have also kept chinchillas for over 20 years having had 13 at one time, but now just has a couple of very cheeky boys, Saturn & Rigsy (pictured) and a rescued female called Chilli.

    After finishing studying a national diploma in Animal Management at Houghall College I came to work at Prince Bishop Veterinary Hospital, this was over 5 years ago now and I feel I have learnt a lot in my roles as nursing assistant and receptionist. I enjoy working with the public and caring for their pets. When I am not working at Prince Bishop Vets I am at home caring for my son Bailey and in my spare time I enjoy meeting up with friends.

    I have recently joined the PBVH reception team after working in hospitality for the past 10 years. I am enjoying getting to know our clients and their beautiful pets. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and going on days out. Any time I have away from my family you will find me walking with my two dogs Roman and Maggie, usually up on the moors which is our favourite place to explore!

    After starting my working life in customer service roles, I decided to persue my dream of working with animals at Prince Bishops and I am enjoying all of the daily challenges it brings as well as having the most supportive colleges! I have grown up with various pets since I was young and now have 2 cats of my own, Loki and Neo. I am looking forward to see what my future holds with the Prince Bishops team!

    I have previously worked in pet retail and also at a children’s farm before joining the fabulous and friendly team at Prince Bishop Vets in May 2022 as a receptionist. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the team and also the lovely clients and their gorgeous pets.

    While at home, I enjoy spending time with my partner Jonny and our two little boys Oliver and Louie. We enjoy caravan holidays and days out making memories. I also love to read and taking our gorgeous cocker spaniel Bella out for walks.

    I joined PBVH in June 2022 . I have previously worked in the veterinary care industry on and off for 10 years between having my 2 children and working in healthcare. I really enjoy my role as veterinary receptionist and getting to know our clients and their gorgeous pets. I hope to one day continue with veterinary nursing with the dream of becoming a veterinary nurse in the near future.

    I have recently joined Prince Bishop Vets and loving every minute of it!  I have dreamed of working with animals ever since I was little and have completed a first diploma and animal nursing assistant course. After working with children for over 8 years I am finally pursing my dream and I couldn't ask for a better team and place to do it in and after only one month of being here I have already took a stray kitten home. In my spare time I like to spend time with my kittens Minnie and Mickey, go back home to Birmingham to see my family and I love going to the cinema and Nandos.
