It’s now easier than ever to travel to most countries in Europe with your pet.
All your pet requires is a microchip, a rabies vaccination and a passport – all of which we can do for you at the practice.
We recommend that the rabies vaccination is given three weeks before you intend to travel but it then lasts for three years, at which point your dog would require another rabies vaccination. These regulations vary from country to country so it is the responsibility of the pet owner to check that the vaccine is suitable for the country travelling to.
Depending on the area you are travelling to, we may recommend additional parasite control on top of what you are using in the UK – please ask our vets for more advice.
When returning to the UK, your pet will require a tapeworm treatment and a signature in their passport before re-entering the country.
We can also help you if you’re thinking of taking your pet further afield – please ask our vets or send us an email and we’ll be happy to assist you.
